Paula Abdul is suing a tanning salon, alleging an infra-red weight loss wrap she purchased from them gave her ‘second or third degree burns.’
In the lawsuit, the 51-year-old singer alleges she was ‘burned all over her body’ after visiting UVASUN West back in January 2012.
TMZ reports she purchased a SlimStar wrap treatment before going on to the tanning bed where she claims she suffered the burns ‘especially severe second or third degree burn on a portion of [her] left thigh.’
According to the company website, the Slimstar wrap ‘is a highly effective weight control, inch loss, pain management, detoxification system that is fast, easy, and effective.
‘It uses infra-red heat that penetrates twice as deep as other heat sources to target toxins and cellulite trapped in pockets below the surface of the skin.
‘The secret of the SlimStar system is the way that the deep heat therapy activates the function of natural enzymes and metabolism within the tissues.’
The treatment claims users can burn 1200 or more calories in one 50-minute session.
In court documents, Abdul claims she ‘lost work and required extensive follow-up care from doctors and surgeons,’ report Radar.
Her injuries are stated to have caused Abdul ‘great mental, physical and nervous strain, pain and suffering, and loss of earnings potential.
The documents add: ‘Paula Abdul will lose additional income in the future and lose additional time in the future at plaintiff’s occupation and profession.
‘Plaintiff has also sustained an impairment of earning capacity, adding to plaintiff’s further loss in an amount not known at this time.’
The lawsuit seeks general damages, medical and health care expenses report Radar.
Since leaving the U.S. X Factor back in 2012, Abdul went on to serve as a guest judge for So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With The Stars.
Last October, Abdul was named as judge on the revived Australian version of So You Think You Can Dance. From dailymail.
